Prof. James van Gelder is an Australian-trained Specialist Neurosurgeon & Spine Surgeon and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He is the director of Neurosurgery at Concord Repatriation Hospital and Sydney Adventist Hospital, and the co-founder and director of the Sydney Spine Institute. He holds Conjoint Associate Professorship at the University of NSW and has served as a faculty member and teaching staff at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

Dr Christella Mylordi is a Consultant Occupational Physician and a Fellow of The Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine. She has worked in Spinal Medicine for over 20 years. She specialises in the management and rehabilitation of injured workers and general management of spinal conditions.

Dr Azhar Khan is an occupational physician who specialises in return to work, injury management, chronic pain and associated mental health issues, fitness for duty, site visits, file review assessments, pre-employment medicals, health surveillance (e.g. asbestos, silicosis and noise exposure assessments), visa medicals and fitness for travel assessments. He is an Injury Management Consultant (IMC) in insurance and worker’s compensation cases.
Spine Physiotherapy
Dr David Anderson is an experienced consultant physiotherapist treating acute and chronic spinal conditions since 2012. He has worked with orthopaedic surgeons and neurosurgeons in both the acute hospital setting at Prince of Wales Private Hospital and at the Sydney Spine Institute. Dr Anderson’s clinical expertise includes the management of common and complex spinal pain conditions, particularly before and after spinal surgery. He has an intimate understanding of spinal procedures, which enables him to implement the most effective, evidence-based protocols for patients who have undergone spinal surgery.
Exercise Physiology
Biara has been working as an accredited exercise physiologist since 2011. She has extensive experience with musculoskeletal conditions, particularly spinal rehabilitation and chronic pain conditions. Her professional background includes the provision of health education and exercise programs for chronic disease management, such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease (CVD), and mental health. Having worked in both metropolitan and remote regions of Australia, she has considerable experience in culturally-sensitive healthcare.
Spine Physiotherapy
Matthew is an APA Titled Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist working in both public and private settings since 2010. His experience includes working with elite athletes and the Australian national hockey teams. He is currently a Senior Physiotherapist at Liverpool Hospital. Matthew is passionate about musculoskeletal conditions and a biopsychosocial approach to care. He holds a Master of Physiotherapy (University of Sydney) and a Master of Clinical Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy (Curtin University).
